Overview
Datang Mobile's TD-MBMS system, on the basis of TD-SCDMA system, is an end-to-end solution to achieve multimedia broadcasting service.
Based on the current TD-SCDMA system, TD-MBMS provides multimedia broadcasting with a transfer channel of high transfer rate and higher efficiency, without impact to the original system's voice and data service. At early stage, the MBMS system was developed into a low-cost and low-risk multimedia broadcasting platform that allows fast
deployment, and meantime facilitates the capacity expansion of TD-SCDMA system, service expansion and evolvement to 3 GPP LTE MBMS.
Using R4/R5 for load bearing requires allocation of separate air interface resources to each user and providing them with multimedia uni-cast, which offers low utilization rate of resources and small capacity
Using MBMS for load bearing can effectively save air interface resources and provide multimedia broadcasting, which offers high utilization rate of resources and large capacity.
Objectives of applying TD-MBMS system
- single timeslot downlink transfer rate reaching above 128kbps.
- frequency spectrum utilization reaching above 0.6 bit/s/Hz.
